Our Trekker Boot Socks are our heaviest, most insulating, and most wicking sock. We’re sure these are likely the warmest socks on the planet. Well, the warmest that aren’t electric but they are silly and pretty impractical!
(well, these were the most insulating, until we made our new American Field Kodiak socks... but the Trekkers are still waaaaay more insulating than anything out there)
Trekker Boot Socks = Workhorse Gear
Designed to be your go-to extra heavyweight boot sock, our Trekkers are extremely thick, quite soft, and well built. Created with ultra-soft bison fiber, these socks are thicker and more cushioning than our Pro-gear socks. We use only properly processed bison fiber that is 100% free from stuff that will make the socks itchy or abrasive.
Our Trekkers feature a terry loop padded footbed and are over-plaited in the toe, heel, and slightly up the leg to make sure your feet will be comfortable all day long.
Despite the extra cushioning and tough construction, these performance designed socks are intended to be worn with footwear. They are not intended to be worn as house slippers. You certainly can, but wearing them on concrete and abrasive surfaces will impact wear.

These are the best socks ever. Usually you don’t think of socks as an exiting present, but these socks are and he requests them for any special occasion. He wears them with his boots every day and they are the right height. When I have occasion to wear boot socks I wear them as well and I also love them. They work in summer as well as winter, and I’m someone who gets hot feet easily but these buffalo wool socks just breathe so well! Blisters are things of the past with these socks, too, and I used to get blisters so easily. Also, I really love the look of these socks. Never been so impressed or thought- wow what gorgeous socks before haha. One last point is that these socks hold up great. He still uses the first pair I got him 3 or 4 years ago, no holes, no fraying, etc. These socks are worth every penny. Instead of just constantly buying new socks that inevitably fall apart, these bison ones just last and last. I don’t usually review things (feel too shy!) but I just adore this company and they way they do things and their products and I want to support them because we will be devastated if they ever stop making those socks! I don't wear cowboy boots, but do wear hiking shoes. Is this the right sock for hiking, or might you have another (better) type?

John: As you well know, sock preference is really personal .... but I'm glad to share my thoughts. If your hiking boots/shoes are 6" or less in height, our boot socks are probably not the best choise as they generally go up to mid shin or close. Crew sock height is 7-8" so they work better ...again, considering height of the foot gear. The bison silk blend "pro gear" crews would be my first choice both for the yarn blend and the sock construction. If you are wearing a hiking shoe or trail shoe, look at the B.O.S.S short sock. Different yarn but basically same foot construction. Ron and Theresa have got some great info on the BuffaloWoolCo website as to the differences and uses of all the socks .... and for the last several years Ron has been handling all the sock design and construction with Fox River Mills ... so don't hesitate to look there (and/or buy there... same family and same great socks).
