The Chase - Stagecoach and pursuers - Oil on Canvas; circa 1950ish
The second piece from my personal Art Collection:
This is an original oil by Thomas R. CURTIN.
Curtin was an artist born in 1899 and deceased in 1977. The artist's works have gone up for sale at public auction 112 times, mostly in the Painting category. The oldest auction recorded on ARTPRICE.com is for the artwork Early Spring presented in 1993 at Ritchie's Auctioneers (Painting) and the most recent is for the artwork Snowy Village presented in 2025 (Painting).
What attracted me to this work, other than just the smile it brings as to the Western theme, was the artists ability to put so much "motion" into it. The horses, the coach's wheels, the gunners and the pursuers ...the dust flying. Without being photographic, it has a life quality. Just me.
His works sell for anything from a few hundred to over $12,000. (6 pieces currently on Ebay from $600 to $2200). This piece is one of his medium sized - at 40" x 26" including frame. Curtin's works are recognized and collectable. This is a steal at $250, but it is time. Jump in and help yourself!!
Shipping on this one will be $65 insured.
