You've never seen a display like this .... and never will again. Charles made this atlatl point display about 10 years ago. The points are hand knapped beautifully. That stone/knapping artist is Alan Altizer. These are heritage points done with gem quality stone. The points today would cost more ... if you can get them ... than this whole display. Alan's knapped points run upwards of $300 each.
The shafts and base are Charles's craftsmanship in wood. Same with the sinew lashings. Charles recreates based on research. Meticulously and with purpose.
The base is Mesquite. The 4 hafts - each one different and also representing the 4 seasons, are: curly maple, wenge, leopard wood and cocobolo. It represents the four seasons in the selected colors of the points and the hafts. It is further symbolic of the native "medicine wheel" ... pointing to N, E, S and W.
I've had this piece about 12 years. It still stops me every time I walk by. It will for you, as well.
