Buffalo Horn - heart-shaped buttons

These are water buffalo horn.  It's a fairly large button - 1 1/2" x 1 1/8" - but worked very well on coats and shawls.

These are very similar to bison horn .... but water buffalo is readily available overseas where these are made.  They are a beautiful shiny black with some white and brown streaking that is the natural coloration of water buffalo horn.  That is one way to tell it from bison horn, which is always just black.  Other than the black ones, no two are colored alike.  The shapes however are perfectly consistent, a kind of free-form heart.   

These we did get from Benno's .... and while they don't seem to have this identical button, they do have several similar; same material for sure.  Just different shapes.  They now get $5.27 each.  I'm putting these up at $25 for a set of 12 buttons,,,, except the last -5th bag which has 11 buttons)
