Another very close to incredible find in the Book Hoard! 3 volumes from 1893.
The Romances of Dumas: Memoirs of a Physician
Alexandre Dumas
1893, three volumes.
Half-leather bound, three volume set.
A historical novel by the author of The Three Musketeers, The Count of Monte Cristo, and The Man in the Iron Mask. This novel chronicles the life of the mysterious alchemist & conspirator Joseph Balsamo in 18th-century France. The story is set against the backdrop of the court of Louis XVI & Marie Antoinette, and explores political intrigue, romance, and the occult leading up to the French Revolution.
A small bit of leather loss at top of spine on both V1 and V3. Otherwise, a Very Good set.
This is a bargain price on this set. This is the earliest set and has three volumes. There is a later set of the same three and then an even later set with 5. Ten years later (1903) there is a 32 volume set of all of Dumas's works to that point with an almost identical 3/4 leather binding (The Louvre Set).
