BOOKS - Eddie the Ermine

Alaska themed ... actually, specifically to a very small historic Alaska Railroad town named Nenana.  The author, Josh Verhagen, is from there.  He has one youngish son and a friend sitting out on the sidewalk, at a small table, selling these books.  Their main targets are tour busses ... but after watching a couple of coach loads of probably well heeled riders just pass by these young (and bored) entrepreneurs , I bought a double handful.  I'm glad I did for more than one reason.

The book is in heavy cardboard so young ones can handle them and turn pages.  The art is very good ... and the story is .. well, you'll just have to read it for yourself.  This guy combines a couple of his probably many talents; life lessons, animal lessons, history lessons and ... a couple more.  (Dang, this is almost longer than the story; almost).

The RR Depot is in Nenana.  It is supposed to be only one of 4 original depots on the route from Seward to Fairbanks.  More of Nenana's history.  Also an active and very old coal mine supplying fuel for local electricity generation.
