But this is about 3 of his books:

First, and always where you need to start (at least in my way of thinkin'); "A Texas Cowboy or Fifteen Years on the Hurricane Deck of a Spanish Pony"  (several different covers/printings ... you get the next one on the shelf),  This is the Old American West from a great point of view.  Raw, gritty .... and the first work of a gentleman that became a superb chronicler of the West transforming into "civilization".   

Next, "A Cowboy Detective"  Originally printed in 1912.  Our copy here is a 1988 reprint.

Last, for now, "Billy the Kid"  Originally published in 1920.  Our copy is a 2000 reprint
