Two volumes, 884 + 994 pages.  

6.75” x 9.5” approx each volume

Author John Kitto was an English Biblical scholar, a Doctor of Divinity & a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries (yes, I had to look both DD & FSA up) who wrote or edited a number of books during his short life, including this quite handsome two-volume set that is rich in detail.

Three-quarter black leather bindings are scuffed but intact on Vol 1, same for Vol 2 but the front hinge is beginning to crack at the top; the interior paste downs in Vol 2 still hold, so the front board remains with the book.  Interior pages in both volumes are off-white and crisp, with little to no foxing.  A really beautiful set, with original owner’s name inscribed on interior paste downs.
