The Executive Edition set of the Works of Theodore Roosevelt.  Published by P.F. Collier Company in 1905.  It is actually a re-print with permission of two original sets done by 1898 Charles Scribner's sons and 1904 G.F. Putnam's sons.

One of the great inclusions in this set are the different photos of Roosevelt on the

An excellent set, only the 3rd that I have been able to source.  There are some later (1910 and afterwards sets, as well).

Some of the gold/gilt on the spines of these has gone away, but plenty still remains.  The bindings are still very tight, if a bit dry.  A very readable set with just a bit of care not to open them too far.  No internal markings; no inscriptions (that I have seen).  Can open the rest of the packages if someone wants to see them all; just opened some at random so I could get my own photos of the set.  Historical both the collection, reference and personal edification.  (I've only read two of these .... and that was a bit ago, but they are very readable!)

Title list:

  1. "American Ideals: With a biographical sketch by Gen. Francis Vinton Greene,
  2. Administration - Civil Service",
  3. "Hunting the Grisly and Other Sketches"
  4. Hunting Trips of a Ranchman,
  5.  Hunting Trips on the Prairie and in the Mountains",
  6. "Presidential Addresses and State Papers Part One & Two",
  7.  "The Naval War of 1812 Part One  & Two",
  8.  "The Rough Riders",
  9. "The Strenuous Life",
  10. "The Wilderness Hunter",
  11.  "The Winning of the West: Volumes One,
  12.  Two,
  13.  Three, &
  14.  Four".

This set was just obtained from a 92 year old book collector in Georgia.  He could not remember how long he has had it ... nor whether he had read any of the volumes completely.  He is, of course, forgiven those minor lapses.
