Wow .... just Wow!
AMERICAN BIRDS Frank G. Ashbrook, 1932.
United States Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Biological Survey
Heavily illustrated with color plates by Paul Moller.
95 pages. 3.5 x 5.5 inches.
An early edition of the book that would become better known as “The Green Book of American Birds”.
Only six (6) found in holdings internationally, including the Library of Congress! This is a superb collectable for those of you deeply interested in the natural history of both our country and our planet!!
Measuring only 5x9 cm, it’s a great little book, beautiful little color plates, would fit in the back pocket of a naturalist, out for a stroll in the 1930s.
Spine and hinges are cracked and a bit fragile, but still hanging on with help from solid pastedowns/endpapers. If this was in pristine condition ... which it is not (and which may explain the scarcity of copies) it would easily be worth 10 fold or more our price here.
$300.
