The woman who created these "critters, Ellen Siebelius, is an incredibly talented knit toy designer ... and these two were creations she did to "test" her designs. She calls this "3-D" knitting. We've had these two beauties since our Taos Wool Festival Days ... like 20 plus years ago. That is were we always got to enjoy Ellen's new creations and her infectious laughter.
May I present; Billy the Buffalo and Cecil's Ta-Tanka-Toy (what a great play on words, Tatanka being the plains natives generic word for our "critter").
Anyway, they have been very special here ... and can be for you, too. The Stick Toy bison has lost 2/3 of it's stick and would need some gently mending if it was to be used as the hobby horse (or stick bison) that it was originally. But the knitting is still completely intact so surely it can be "re-purposed" or fixed.
Great Art from a Great Artist
Billy 12" long x 9" tall x 4.5" across
Cecil is 9" tall with another 9" of the stick still exposed - 18" overall
To see Ellen's original patterns for these two, here are the links. And the last two photo's are from Ellen's website; not the one's we have for sale here... but like second cousins ... just for a family album. Saw them and could not resist putting them up here, as well
