1965 - Henry D and Francis T McCallum. One of several on the use, history, importance and manufacture of barbed wire. I first saw this in the "John Graves" book collection and thought it worthy of grabbing a few copies. Barbed wire gets to be less fascinating the longer you have to work it, stretch it, repair it, climb over it ... or even coil it to be discarded.
But regardless, it never looses its connection with the settlement of the western ranges or it's utility in our modern livestock world.
