Since Ronson found this one super little book, I have found another few.
One is the "FOURTEENTH EDITION OF 1927"
The second is a 1968 reprint of the 1040 edition. Good with the exception that the back cover is missing.
The third book (THE ONE FROM THE BOOK HOARD ) was originally "Not for sale" ... but just a teaser of what Ronson Page is finding in that "book stash" we bought up. Then we got contacted by one of our good folk who let on that she was actually related to one of the survivors. She very badly wanted the book and the news clippings .... and so we relented; it was the right thing to do.
His (Ronson's) original comments on this "find" were: "Donner Party book is pretty cool .... 1th edition so no great shakes there, but the owner pasted in the obituary of the last surviving Donner Party member ... and she was a Donner, youngest daughter of Capt. Donner. Plus 3 postcards from the Donner Part site memorial, circa 1920's".
He continued: "To me, that all makes it of more interest ... that obit likely doesn't exist anywhere else, at this point ... maybe the depths of some newspaper HQ, but unlikely, stuff like that either gets digitized or lost to a flood".
