NOTES ON THE FLORIDIAN PENINSULA:  ITS LITERARY HISTORY, INDIAN TRIBES AND ANTIQUITIES, by Daniel G. Brinton, A.B.    Published in 1859.

202 pages.  No illustrations.

5 x 7" approx.

Extremely scarce, limited print run of as few as 100 copies.  Very few copies in private hands; most surviving copies are in university rare book collections.

According to Howes' U.S. IANA, 1650-1950 bibliography of "uncommon & significant" books:  "Contains the first attempt at a bibliography of Florida; only 100 copies said to have been printed."

This is a simple, yet rare volume, published fourteen years after Florida was admitted into the Union and two years before the Civil War, and would be a wonderful addition to any historical collection.

(I really fought an internal battle over whether or not to keep this one for myself.  It is a dadburn jewel.  R.P.)

Original embossed boards, corners bumped, spine head & tail worn, small ding on lower back board edge, interior front hinge slightly cracked, small closed tear in first front free endpaper, chip in second front free endpaper, occasional light pencil marks, pages lightly toned but still crisp.

All in all, a Very Good copy of a very desirable book.

$750

PS:  Ronson can find only one other copy of this for sale ANYWHERE in the book world .... and that "world includes over 12000 libraries and booksellers.  Not nearly as well preserved and substantially more money.  This is a real treasure for the right person!
