The story of the buffalo hide hunters from on of the most prolific and exacting authors of the early 20th century. Mari Sandoz writes with both minute factual detail and a romantic overtone that gives what must have been a very true-to-life feel of the people about whom she writes. Once you get started with Sandoz, you have quite a wonderful list to read. The Buffalo Hunters is a great place to start (and probably Old Jules next!).
