BOOKS - Hoofs, Claws and Antlers by Harold McCracken - Illustrated by Lee Ames

Done in 1958, both the text and the illustrations are captivating.  McCracken knew this animals - the big game animals of North American, from his personal experiences both in hunting and in observing.  Lee Ames, at one time a Disney artist, became one of the most extensive art instructors the country has ever known. 

While aimed towards the younger set, I found the book well worth the time.  The illustrations are really so well detailed.
