Veryl Goodnight original.

Set against the backdrop of the Palo Duro Canyon of West Texas, the herd family portrays what the artist feels to be both the majesty of the big herds and the sadness of their passing.  The colors are slightly muted with the exception of the bison, so their power and strength get captured by both the musculature - Veryl's specialty - and dominance.  This has been her largest bison work.

This painting - "Palo Duro Winds"- was first shown at the 2013 "Quest for the West" invitational western artists gathering at the Eiteljorg Museum, Indianapolis, Indiana.  There, it qualified for sale (not something all the works are allowed to do) and I bought it.

More recently, it was loaned by request to the "Cowgirl Hall of Fame" in Ft. Worth Texas when Ms. Goodnight was rightfully inducted into that prestigious organization.

Perfectly framed for most all environs, so as not to overshadow the work, but so as to draw attention to the subject.

It was at Caprock Canyon State Park, the home of the Texas State Bison Herd where Veryl gathered her photos and views of both the bison and the canyon rock as her inspiration and model for this work.  The Caprock herd is the modern day successors of the herd that her great, great uncle Charles Goodnight was in part responsible for preserving.

Painting is approximately 39 x 22; framed it is 46 x 29.   It is collector worthy; you would be the second owner.

These are relatively low resolution photos; they are the best I have at the moment.  We will try to get you better photographs if you would like ... or we can send the work "on approval".

We do still have a very few archival quality prints signed by Veryl.  Contact me
