This is to me as Antebellum South as it can get. The colors, the scene, the mansion, their clothing. But with the twist of Black instead of White.
Ms. Roundtree's style; rigid, upright, lined - only adds to the intensity of this image. I had one of these prints framed in the shop for quite a while. The folks who bought it just could not take their eyes off it. It went to a southern home ... but perhaps not as one might think. It was a great experience for us all that day.
She is an accomplished painter with over 100 published pieces. She also teaches art in the Stone Mountain Georgia School System.
Only one print left. One small ding on the top edge (where we didn't quite take enough care as we put it in the flat file.... but you don't even see it when you have the whole piece there).
