8/25/26 - Old Sykes - the "working model" size - will be here in October.  He is the first three photo's.  We get #6, #7 and #8.

And, the cost is less than originally anticipated - The price will be $4900; $500 less than forecast - Thank you Veryl.

Old Sykes was Charles Goodnight's lead breeding bison bull for many years.  Neither stories nor pictures are numerous .... other than Sykes was never "tame" and chose to go where he pleased.  Fences and gates were temporary obstacles.  But to Goodnight, this was merely a bison being a bison ... which he wanted in his captive herd.

Now Veryl Goodnight, the renown sculptress and artist has been commissioned by the Texas Historical Commission to do a seven (7) foot tall bronze statue of Sykes to add to the Goodnight Historical Site in Goodnight, Texas.

In the process, Veryl is going to make available 3 sizes of bronze once the original has been cast and finished.  There can be two more identical castings to the seven foot bronze.  $165,000 and $175,000

There will also be a very limited (35) edition of an 1/8 size bronze - approximately 11 inches tall and 22" long.  This is called the "working edition" as it was the size of her initial working model for the bronze.  Anticipated price will be $5,400.

There will also be a very small edition of a "miniature" size - roughly half the size of the Working Model.  Anticipated price will be $1,500.  Not available to order quite yet

Veryl has allotted me 3 of the Working model and 5 of the miniature;  The black and white pictures are of the actual clay "working model".  The full size bison sculpture is now digitality created in foam from the smaller clay model.  That is not the way it use to be done when Veryl did "The Day the Wall Came Down" - her monumental bronze commemorating the tear down of the Berlin Wall - (see photo below of that one in Berlin)

All of these pieces are cast only after ordering (thought there may be one or two Gallery castings as well.
