BOOKS - Crafting A Southwestern Masterpiece J. Evetts Haley and Charles Goodnight: Cowman & Plainsman

$131.00
Enscribed

The book is partly a behind-the-scenes historical piece on how Haley and Goodnight collaborated on the 1936 Goodnight bio.  It is also part tribute to artist/illustrator Harold Bugbee and to Evetts Haley..

It is an excellent short read.  Byron Price is a master at choosing words that fit and no more.  His knowledge of Western history is unsurpassed as evidenced by his current "jobs" as a professor holding the Charles Marion Russell Memorial Chair, the Director of Charles M. Russell Center for the Study of Art of the American West at the University of Oklahoma and Director of the University of Oklahoma Press.

We currently have two very special copies of the book, as well as several just regular ol' copies.

Both of the special books are signed by both Price and Haley.  One was sent to Katherine Bugbee (Harold's widow) and with an hand written inscription to her.  In that book are a number of newspaper clippings, articles and other memorabilia that she must have put in the book for safe-keeping; all about Goodnight, Haley and Bugbee.  Quite the collection.

The second signed copy was sent to the Western Literature Society in in Boise, and then on to the University of Texas for review.  Copy of the review and letter/news clippings and more from the reviewer are included in this "package".

I'd be glad to send photo's of the "extras" to anyone interested before you make a decision ... but for collectors these are both treasure troves, and a look inside of the look back at history.
