BOOKS - THE WORKS OF THEODORE ROOSEVELT. 14 of 15 volumes

Just in!  If you have never opened any of Roosevelts writings, there is no better time to start

One of the most beautiful .... and most tightly bound sets of 14 of the 15 vol Theodore Roosevelt works I have found.  Considering the age (1901 printing), it is in very good or better condition.  Readable without worry; these bindings are tight.  The pages have some pretty good foxing (tanned aged coloration). but the paper is still crisp.  I doubt most of these volumes have ever been read.

As you can see in the photos, some of the black bands ... that have the ROOSEVELT name have fallen off, as have a couple of the red spine labels.  The imprint, however, is still on the spine - "Roosevelt".  However, the covers, as you can see from the other pictures, are exceptionally good condition.  The leather spine backings are still very nice for this age set; the end pages and the sides look like "paste" paper and not "marbled" paper ... but either way they are hand done works.... and it exceptional shape.  The gold imprint decoration is still very clean.  

If this set were "pristine" it would sell for north of $10K; it is that impressive

The Missing volume is:  American Ideals and other essays, social and political;  Of all the books, this one to me has the least interesting subject matter.  And if it were "critical", I could probably find another copy .... but I seriously doubt it would be matching ... it would be a newer publication that someone has broken.  All said, there is tremendous reading right here.
