The "author" is Count Egon Caesar Corti was an Austrian noble, military officer turned historical biographer.
What I have browsed of this volume is very fact intense... and march's very slowly forward. I've got to assume his love of detail and apparently his ability to grab onto good information timely is what makes this book historically valuable. Certainly not for everyone, but if you want an inside view of one of the most fascinating banking families ever ... grab on.
