BOOKS - A History of the JA Ranch (Reprint)

$36.00
Style

By Harley True Burton

This is a reprint from the original 1934 article published in the Texas Historical Quarterly ... and just fascinating.  Ledgers with income, animal count, workers ... the whole of the ranch Goodnight founded for and with John Adair; at one time 361 square miles of contiguous canyon, creeks, grazing ... and historical territory.

We have just recently had the newer spiral bound re-printed .. and got a much better price for the same material (actually easier to read and flip pages!!)

As Good A Read as Herdwear is a Store

Couldn't put this book down until the last page was read. Really enjoyed reading more about Mr. Charles Goodnight, but was especially impressed with his wife's spunk and spirit. Didn't know that she is really the one we have to thank for bottle feeding that young group of bison calves from which the Herd ultimately sprang.
The detailed account of the round up routine was excellent

I loved this book, and the fabulous history surrounding it

I have enjoyed a deeper dive into the JA Ranch and Charles Goodnight. I think Herd Wear an amazing source for our amazing Panhandle history especially in our Ranching heritage and all the culture around Palo Duro Canyon.
