The "Zak" brown bison beanie with full acrylic liner

Original Price $121.00
Current Price $57.00
Color

4 corner top construction, circular knit for a very snug construction.

“Zak” is knit from one of our 90% bison down/ 10% nylon yarn beanie with full black acrylic liner. The lining yarn is a recycled yarn composed to a large extent of recycled plastic bags .. no joke. Great stuff and knits up so soft against the skin

This is the first time we have done a completely lined beanie, but Scott at Icebox was really strong on the idea for this hat. As usual, got to listen to the guy who knows.

Tight, warm, darn near windproof.

This is the one you want when you want absolutely no wind to get to your head; this is the one.

Good quality

Although this was a summer purchase and I haven't put it to the true test, the quality and fit are exactly what I was looking for in a beanie.

Zac’s beanie

I have both the original down beanie and Zac’s beanie so I know the pros and cons of both of them. Zac’s is better for windy days, the material doesn’t seem as thick as the original but the design keeps the wind from penetrating onto my head. I’m a 7 1/4 hat size and Zac’s doesn’t fit quite as snug and in general is a little looser in overall fit. The original has a better form fitting fit and the fleece strip band is great for ear warmth. However the open knit design does allow wind to penetrate. We’ve recently had some very cold, strong winds so I put the Zac’s on first and then put the original on over it. Problem solved, warmth and wind protection.

Steve: What a guy! (and the picture proves it). Hate to think it takes two hats .... but you are spot on about the differences and wind issues. Glad you are pleased, for sure.

Best wishes;

Cecil

Looks great but itchy inside

Nice looking and warm, but don't care for the lining. Prior non-Zak buffalo hat I bought from them had more of a soft felt-like lining.

Donald: Good morning. You are right about 'Zak', which is why it is $20 bucks cheaper than 'the good stuff' - the 'original' pull top lined beanie. Send it back if you want (with the add'l $20) and we'll swap you out for one. Let me know. Best wishes

Very nice beanie

The description of the beanie is exactly what it is. It has a nice fit on my head. I wear a 7 1/2 fitted hat. It could accommodate a smaller or bigger head no problem. It is a tight knit and wind resistant. For the price can’t be beat. The only reason for the 4 stars is because I’m comparing it to the original bison beanie. If it wasn’t for that, it would probably be a 5 star.

Mike: Thanks for that 'spot on' review/description. It's great for what it is ... but it is not the soft more 'forgiving' 'Original'. But there have been a few windy days I was glad to have the tight and extra layer. Stay well and warm .... more headgear on the drawing board.

Minimalist luxury

I haven’t sported such a comfy, convenient and unpretentious piece of coldweather headgear since the black possumwool watch-cap I acquired on the South Island of New Zealand over a decade ago.

Del: Thank you for the kind words. It does it's job. Glad you are pleased ... and yes, folks, they do make really fine things out of New Zealand possum fiber ... wholly different than our little critters (and very destructive on the Island). Who knew!

Quality hat and service

Not only was the hat well made and comfortable, but Cecil jumped right in when shipping was delayed. I couldn't be happier and wouldn't hesitate to order from here again
