Good mittens

I really like these mittens, and I'm glad I bought them, but I'm giving them 4 rather than 5 stars because --- even though they're 2XL -- the thumb channel is cut too narrow to fit a liner. Any liner restricts circulation to the thumb, which defeats the purpose in the cold. But they're good to use as is, with just the built-in Thinsulate liner. They remind me of mittens an Indian woman made for me in northern Ontario in 1974. Those were made with smoke-tanned moose hide with sewn-in duffle cloth wool lining. I hope the sueded bison hide holds up as well as the home-tanned moose hide under field conditions.

I didn't think Men in Texas had small hands.

I ordered XL Size choppers. The mittens where a little narrow for my likes. I ended up giving it to my Son. There is definite quality to mitts so it worked out. But for myself I would rather have more room in the finger area. I was excited to see this product for sale. but maybe for me a XXL chopper.

Timothy: Great review ... and unfortunately accurate. I just chatted with Walt Buyce .. who make them up in Gloversville NY and he can (and will) make us some XXL. If you want to try a pair once I get them in I can send them on approval. Walt is usually pretty quick ... so let me know when you can.

Best wishes

Cecil

Me mittons

I am very pleased with the mittons, I haven’t actually used them yet (probably/hopefully not til next winter) but they appear to be exactly what I wanted. From what I can tell from the initial inspection they are very well made
