SPR -True White Buffalo Turquoise drop earrings

The stone is not actually chemically "turquoise" ... but it has carried the name since it's discovery in 1993 at the only one place in the world it is found: the Dry Creek Mine (also known as the White Buffalo Mine) in Tonopah, Nevada.  That is smack in the center of American Turquoise mining

It was so named from Native American legends, which hold that a white buffalo is as rare and sacred as this beautiful stone.

Despite being chemically different from classic copper-based turquoise, it shares a similar hardness (about 5.5 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale), making it excellent for jewelry pieces ... such as these.
