Royal Canadian Mounted Police ...the "Mounties". You know those crimson red jackets with the brass buttons. Yes, these are those buttons.
But did you know they have a bison head in the very middle of them? Well, they do.
Several different styles... or most likely different manufacturers. They were made in two pieces and crimped together. So, they are hollow. In my research I now realize that there is a whole "history" to the various Mountie Brass Buttons ..... but sorry, I'm not going down that trail. These are authentic; different times, I am guessing. All have a sewing loop on the backside that is a wire loop through a hole in the back of the button. The loop swings relatively freely, but won't pull out. Some of these have a small cotter key that was used to hold them on the fabric; some do not. One or two have solid loops on the back, but just a couple. Look at the pictures of each set.
Interestingly, most all the sets have 14 pieces; I am not sure why.
Set A. - 14 pcs. all are 20 mm (3/4") with cotter keys - except one cotter key missing.
Set B. - 14 pcs. all are 20 mm (3/4") no cotter keys; sewing loops only.
Set C. - 14 pcs. all are 15 mm (1/2") Loops with cotter keys
Set D. - 14 pcs. all are 20 mm (3/4"). Silver-ish tone. Sewing loops only. See pictures
Set E. - 14 pcs. 5 are 20 mm; 8 are 15 mm and one is about 10 mm
Set F. 18 pcs. 2 are appx 25 mm; 3 are 20mm; 11 are 15 mm and 2 are 10 mm
