Yes, folks ... BIG NEWS and GOOD NEWS. I am here through end of July. Then the Goodnight Historical Center takes over the store and land . A lot of our best products will be carried over into their store, thankfully. I am also building a new house on the North side of US 287 .... and (sssshhhhh) most likely will still have jerky, meat and a few other things available there. No; we are not "quitting" - HERD WEAR will continue (while I spend more time fishing and with family). Be sure you are on our email list and also on Buffalo Wool Co's list. Keep checking the blog posts on this website as well ... i will be adding info there about the events ... and they are lining up sweet! Come see us while we are here!

Edgar Paxton - Buffalo Hunt Tribute Giclée on Canvas Print

$86.00

Edgar Samuel Paxson, Antique - 1905 Western Art.  Beautifully done; true colors and a powerful piece.

Paxson (1852-1919) was an American frontier painter, scout, soldier and writer, based mainly in Montana. He is best known for his portraits of Native Americans in the Old West and for his depiction of the Battle of Little Bighorn in his painting "Custer's Last Stand"

Edgar and fellow Montanan, Charles Marion Russell met in 1908 studio. These two artists had an amicable relationship.  A careful look reveals that their styles and interests were distinct and both of their visions enrich our understanding of frontier culture.

Following Paxson's death, Russell offered a tribute to the artist: "Paxson has gone, but his pictures will not allow us to forget him. His work tells me that he loved the Old West, and those that love her I count as friends. Paxson was my friend, and today the west that he knew is history that lives in books. His brush told stories that people like to read. … The iron heel of civilization has stamped out nations of men, but it has never been able to stamp out pictures, and Paxson was one of the men gifted to make them. I am a painter, too, but Paxson has done some things that I cannot do. He was a pioneer and a pioneer painter … Paxson loved Montana. May the land where he has gone be even more beautiful than the mountains that he loved."

Giclee on canvas; appx 12" x 10".  Unstretched and unframed.  I can (and will) have it stretched professionally for you before shipping.  Cost will be $28 for stretching, or it can ship rolled in a rigid mail tube
