Uniform matching hard back binding in publisher's original Brunswick green cloth covered boards, blocked and lettered gilt backs, elaborate gilt vignette to the front boards, blind tools to the rear, all page edges gilt, lemon end papers. Quarto 12'' x 10''. Contains 36 tipped-in chromolithograph colored plates and 36 full page monochrome pictures on thick card stock with hundreds of text monochrome illustrations throughout.

The color illustration/Plates are true works of art.  

Some deterioration on the covers .... pictures on request.  Most in Good or better shape.  Gold leaf embossing and gilt page edges bright.   However, the paper is very brittle; a couple pages cracted near the spine when I tried to fold back.

The colored prints are "added in"; pasted onto the page and easily removable.  The sepia/black/white prints are printed on the page.
