BOOKS - "Rim to Rim" by E. Hamblen. The Story of the "Hamblen Highway" across the uncrossable Palo Duro Canyon

$155.00
year printed

1971 Original and 2014 reprint:

The story of Will Hamblen.  Hamblen lived in the Palo Duro Canyon ... in an area where there was no road across.  No one thought about building that road ..  except Hamblen.  It is one of the most fascinating 25 plus miles I have ever driven. That is my bro-in-law, Randy Shelhorse, whom is in several blog posts (super great guy) standing at the outlook above Hamblen Drive; then next is looking north up Hamblen (and the last two - Vicky and I at Jack Sorenson's porch actually looking South across the canyon at "Sorenson Point".

Anyway, I found this little child emblazoned with pen book - 100 pages - an original copy of Edith's store of her father's life work.  Cannot for the life of me find any other copies of it.

I do now have some reprints available.  "The Rim to Rim Road: Will Hamblen and the Crossing of Texas' Palo Duro Canyon" published in 2014 by the Texas Plains Trail Association

Wonderful story of American and Texas grit and determination.  Lots of great early photos, as well.
