It's old and way past usable for riding .... but what a great piece of western American history (at least as best I know it is American). It was the real deal ... and while it still is a complete side saddle, I doubt it could be satisfactorily re-constructed. It is, however, a fancy display/conversation piece. And there is no doubt that at one time it was a very beautiful piece of tack.
The leather still has just a bit of life left; you can tell what it is at a glance ... but yes, the stuffing is coming out. We had it on display in the old store and you should have heard the stories it evoked - mothers, grandmothers, teachers, neighbors .... all different but all about one or another "sidesaddle".
I had several but this is the last. The saddle stand IS FOR SALE SEPARATELY. That stand has a very unique history ... It was built by a North Texas custom saddle maker for a custom kid's saddle back in the mid 1970's.
