BOOKS - Soldiering in Souix Country - Lt. Charles Springer

Sold out
$25.00

A reprinted diary, with some wonderful interwoven and footnoted history.  Also has just a few exceptional line art drawings of what the trail must have been like, as well.

It was written by Lieutenant Charles Springer as a record of another campaign towards "settlement" of the western United States.

July 1, 1865 through November 21, 1865.   Excellent footnotes from the editor, Ben Cooling - who at the time was Chief, Historical Research and Reference Division, U.S. Army Military History Research Collection.

These are new old stock, with dust jackets (first edition and originally published in 1971) just obtained from one of the auctions of private collections of Western US history and artifacts.
