1840's American Percussion Kentucky Long Rifle - Beautiful!

 American antique percussion Kentucky rifle having full walnut stock, octagon barrel, carved check rest, brass butt plate and trigger guard, double trigger and G. Goulcher marked lock plate.   This gun is getting close to 200 years old!

Goulcher made a wide range of components, including precision percussion locks. for the arms market that could be used by gunsmiths unable to produce their own parts.  The rifle itself was quite likely made in northeastern Virginia (now West Virginia). 

 1840 (+/-) George Golcher (U.S.) Percussion Kentucky Long Rifle (single-shot/ muzzle-loading/ black powder/ ball ammunition).

The rifle represents a technology that had reached its zenith for the period.    A & O 219
