Yes, folks ... BIG NEWS and GOOD NEWS. I am here through end of July. Then the Goodnight Historical Center takes over the store and land . A lot of our best products will be carried over into their store, thankfully. I am also building a new house on the North side of US 287 .... and (sssshhhhh) most likely will still have jerky, meat and a few other things available there. No; we are not "quitting" - HERD WEAR will continue (while I spend more time fishing and with family). Be sure you are on our email list and also on Buffalo Wool Co's list. Keep checking the blog posts on this website as well ... i will be adding info there about the events ... and they are lining up sweet! Come see us while we are here!
Yes, folks ... BIG NEWS. The Texas Historical Commission has bought the store in Goodnight. We will be there through the end of July, 2024 ... and then on line or by phone. No; we are not "quitting" - HERD WEAR will continue. Be sure you are on our email list and also on Buffalo Wool Co's list.

BWC Trekker Boot Sock

$66.00
Size

The thick heavyweight boot sock from The Buffalo Wool Company.   Great Reviews ... and a great product!

The base yarn is half bison and half superwash merino wool, but pretty bulky.  Good and tall enough for a 12" boot.   Remember, though, that if your boot is already snug this may be too heavy.

Very warm.

Machine washable.

Made 100% in the USA of American Bison fiber

Cold weather update

Hunting in North Eastern Alberta last November in very harsh winter conditions. High winds and snow blizzards on two separate days. When it wasn't snowing and blowing the temperature would drop, -23c one morning. Somedays I would be sitting in my blind for several hours a day, other days we would be on the spot and stock covering lots of ground. When walking your feet are never a problem, but while sitting for long periods of time is the real test, for all your outdoor clothing. I would wear a thin pair of moisture wicking socks under my trekking socks, when I would get to my blind and settle in, one of the first things I would do is loosen up my boot laces, to allow for better blood circulation. This isn't the first time that I've experienced extreme cold weather hunting conditions and even though I would be wearing the latest and greatest synthetic stocks sometimes my feet would be a problem. Not on this trip though. And I know it was attributed to the trekking socks. High quality, very comfortable and they seem like they'll last. And above all, there warm! Thanks Herdwear. Oh yeah, we were very successful and our freezers are full.

They're ok but overpriced

I purchased 2 pairs of these socks thinking that based on their materials and reviews, this would be the end of my cold feet while hunting. I usually wear a pair of very thick, inexpensive wool socks and that was ok but i tried to upgrade to these. Well, i was disappointed. I wore these socks out hunting, it was about 25°, and my feet started getting cold after about an hour and a half, the same as my cheap wool socks. These do perform well BUT they are not worth the cost. Much cheaper socks can be had that are just as warm. Plus the sizing is off. I wear a 12.5-13 boot and ordered socks for that size but they are much bigger than my feet.

Extremely comfortable; the kind of comfort that makes you say, oh my, when you put them on.
First trial the temperature was around 40F, it's a little warm for these socks. Really looking forward to getting some cooler weather.
I'm a size 9. I noticed both the medium and large offer fitting for a size 9 but after asking Herd Wear about it; Cecil suggested the tighter fit and I'm extremely greatful since the fit is perfect.
Looking forward to trying them out once we drop below freezing. Thank you Herd Wear Team for a great product.

Brian: Great write-up and even greater photos... Thanks and stay well.

Cecil

Bragging Rights

After a long anxiety awaiting arrival, in these trying pandemic times and after a long journey from TX to BC Canada I'm now a proud owner of The Buffalo Wool Co, Trekker Boot Socks. High quality, and will keep my feet warm and comfortable in this year's November hunting trips to Northern and Eastern Alberta. Owning such a unique high quality clothing product made from Buffalo wool will definitely come with bragging rights this year in deer camp. Thanks Herd Wear.

Trekker Socks review

Hi Cecil, I recently purchase two pairs of Trekker socks for winter. These socks are the best that i have ever owned, they are warm but do not make your feet sweat. If anyone is thinking of purchasing a pair you won't be disappointed.
