Fifteen fine and beautiful strands of heishi and turquoise beads set in an appealing pattern. The necklace is longer, and strung on a string with sterling silver cones and an adjustable chain at the end. This would be a great layering piece for your collections. I’ve not seen anything close to this in the past.
Hallmarked JBR (stamped on cones) and TBR (stamped on cones). Joe B. Reano (1940-; Kewa). Active since 1970's. Terry Coriz Reano (1935-; Kewa). Active since 1970's.
This piece is “old school” Native American jewelry at it’s finest! It is a “vintage” … used… piece with a guess that it was made before 1995 … perhaps as much at 15 years earlier. The “heishi” are truly that – shell cut, turned and drilled. The turquoise is not specifically identified, but could well be Sleeping Beauty Mine turquoise based on the maker and the color.
This necklace measures approximately 36 inches from end to end, so that it would hang about 11-12 inches down the front of the wearer.
The total weight for this item is 190.6 grams; not too heavy for comfort .. about 6.5 oz.
