Durable, soft and extremely warm mittens knit with Buffalo Gold's bison down yarn. These mittens are absolutely fabulous!

The buffalo down yarn makes a durable, super warm and extremely soft fiber. Our de-haired bison down yarn is used to knit wonderfully light, believably durable, washable, wear-it-everywhere mittens. The American bison down traps your body heat within the air pockets next to your skin. Bison mittens will allow your fingers to be enclosed together, allowing you to generate and maintain more heat than if they were each covered separately in a glove. Mitts are great for the extremely cold weather.

The high moisture regain properties (the ability of the fiber to hold water without you feeling it) adds an even greater degree of comfort. For winter work, fishing, driving, walking, arthritic/medical heat retention to keep your hands warm.

The 2XL are made to fit over most other Large and XL gloves as an "outer" mitt.   Likewise, the XL works beautifully for medium and small hands.

 Lightweight, warm and quiet!

Our 90% Bison 10% Nylon American spun yarn. Knit in upstate New York, USA exclusively for Buffalo Gold.

Bison Down Knit Mitts

I just got my mitts on the Bison Down Knit Mitts. I ordered Large and they fit perfectly. We are having a mild spell here, right now and the temperature is only slightly below freezing. At that temperature, the mitts are very warm. I imagine the temperature will drop before the end of February, and I will try to update this review to indicate how the mitts feel in colder weather and how well they handle sweaty hands when shovelling snow.

Herd mittens

Have used them already inside leather choppers, and they keep my hands warm and toasty, without the bulk of synthetic wool ones. Thank you very much
Phil in North Pole

Phil and family: Thank you from all of us. From the crew who harvests the bison fiber at the packing plant, the Canadians who wash (scour) the muck and dirt out of it; the good folk in Michigan that separate (dehair) the down from the guard hairs, the Mill in Mass. that blends and spins the yarns; and finally the knit shop that puts the finished good together .... Thank you for letting us know that all our efforts are 'warmly' received in North Pole, AK. Stay well.

Warm mittens for Alaska

I use these under a waterproof shell when I’m going to be outside for a while. Soft, warm, comfortable. Mittens were shipped quickly too, thanks!

Bison Knit mittens

I bought these mittens because I could not keep my fingers warm in gloves, these are the absolute best mittens I have ever had!! I have not had cold fingers even in -18 windchill doing my chores!! I am going to buy them for everyone in my family!

Tammy: Thanks for the review ... and yes, same fiber that keeps bison alive in sub zero temps. Glad you are pleased (and warm).

Best wishes

Excellent warmth to weight ratio

I run cold and experience Raynaud’s syndrome. I use these as liners under Hester Swiss wool mitts and Norrona Goretex shell. These liners are well constructed, warm and dry. The color is darker brown than the photo above. It is worth the price.

The mitts worked really well I have pinkies that do not allow me to wear gloves and they kept my hands extremely warm. I will say they were very pricy but they are well made and i've had no issues with them.
