Yes, folks ... BIG NEWS and GOOD NEWS. I am here through end of July. Then the Goodnight Historical Center takes over the store and land . A lot of our best products will be carried over into their store, thankfully. I am also building a new house on the North side of US 287 .... and (sssshhhhh) most likely will still have jerky, meat and a few other things available there. No; we are not "quitting" - HERD WEAR will continue (while I spend more time fishing and with family). Be sure you are on our email list and also on Buffalo Wool Co's list. Keep checking the blog posts on this website as well ... i will be adding info there about the events ... and they are lining up sweet! Come see us while we are here!
Yes, folks ... BIG NEWS. The Texas Historical Commission has bought the store in Goodnight. We will be there through the end of July, 2024 ... and then on line or by phone. No; we are not "quitting" - HERD WEAR will continue. Be sure you are on our email list and also on Buffalo Wool Co's list.

Midwest Glove - American Made Bison Leather Work Gloves

American Bison (or as we affectionately call the animal - Buffalo) leather work gloves - made in America of American tanned bison leather.  Thank Midwest Glove for making these rugged beauties available!    We have them in Ladies 8, as well as unisex Small, Medium, Large, XL and XXL.
Midwest Glove  also stitched the "Red Head" branded gloves for one of the "big box" sports shops.  When "BaPr" quit buying them, we bought all the remaining inventory, so if you need large or xl, check out the "Red Head" ... same price; same bison leather .... but with the "other" brand on them.

Last version of the Midwest Glove are these black(ish) bison leather work gloves, using the same patterns and stitching as the peanut brown bison leather gloves... and they had "leftovers" that they wanted out of the factory.  Guess who grabbed them up!  These are the thickest, most supple, deepest grain bison leather I have seen from Midwest.  An excellent work (and play) bison leather glove.

So ... a variety of Midwest Glove Company products ... all in American bison leather

GREAT BRUSH GLOVES

I bought a pair of the Midwest Glove bison leather black(ish) gloves and have been wearing them while squirrel hunting out here in northeastern Ohio. Our woods are full of briers which will tear your hands to shreds and pierce most ordinary gloves. These gloves are like wearing steel armor, they make me feel invincible. No more torn up hands! They have my highest recommendation. Thanks.

First impressions

My Midwest Glove, bison leather gloves fit well and have survived one day thus far of hand-loading 9 tons of large stone into containers. Non-leather gloves never last beyond the first ton. Average leather gloves are usually worn through after 9 or 10 tons. These gloves will have to last beyond 30 tons to be the new record-holder. We'll see.

Exceptional quality. Made in USA!

Finest pair of work gloves I’ve ever owned. This is my second pair. I bought my first pair over two years ago. I’ve used them mainly for clearing brush. Despite exposure to briars, gas and chainsaw bar oil, they’re still in great shape. I bought this second pair, just in case I couldn’t find any when my others ‘bite the dust.’ I try to buy products made in the USA. Unfortunately, they’re not always that easy to find. It makes me feel good, to know that I’m supporting American workers! Thank you Cecil!

Decent Gloves

So far these gloves have held up well after two weeks of handling steel cable in a mining environment.

Tough as Buffalo hide

These are the only gloves I’ll buy. I’ve tried all kinds of other brands and leathers. All other gloves I’ve used last about a month. Now, I confess, I put a pair of gloves through a lot and expect a lot. Everything from pulling briar bushes to pulling barbed wire fence and everything in between. These Buffalo gloves made by Midwest Glove and Gear are the only ones to hold up. They lasted a year and I’m now on my second pair. They run small so get the next size up. I waterproofed mine by putting them on and sticking my hands in a bucket of water, soaking them real good. Then I let them dry on my hands to form fit. After that I put mink oil all over them - especially around the seams - and baked all that in the oven at 175 for an hour. End result is a beautiful mahogany colored glove that’s soft, waterproof, and tough as nails. You’ll love the gloves. Get two pair while you’re at it. You don’t want to be without them.

David: Holy cow! You almost 'remake' the gloves ... but then how many pair of hands do you have to keep protected? Great review and thank you. I have forwarded it on to the folks at Midwest; they deserve most of the credit. The rest goes to those folk who raise bison that ultimately enter the commercial production stream ... and end up with folks like yourself who recognize the quality of the animal itself. (and not being 'technical', there is a lot of buffalo leather - Asian Water Buffalo - out there .. but your Midwest gloves ... and all the bison gloves we carry ... are just that - American bison.).

Best wishes

Cecil

Great gloves, great service and a great owner!

The American Made Bison Leather Work Gloves by Midwest Glove are excellent. They are strong, elegant (even for a work glove!) and very well made. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and durable work glove that also looks good, feels good, and is guaranteed not to wear out after a few months' regular use.

Special praise is also due to Cecil, who runs Herd Wear Retail. He exchanged the large pair of gloves, that were sent in error, for the correct size in medium without a hitch. He even sent a pre-paid and addressed return envelope for them, and sent out the replacement gloves immediately!

I thoroughly recommend the gloves - and the store - to anyone seeking good quality, American made products.

Thank you, Cecil, for the gloves, and for being so helpful in arranging an exchange.
